HOW WE PUT OUR CONCERT / SHOWS TOGETHER
Each summer, while the choir enjoys a vacation / hiatus, Music Director, Holly Langohr, researches and selects the following season's repertoire. Currently, the Ingersoll Choral Society, plans for three concerts between January and May.
- Concert 1 (our Winter Show) usually takes the form of an original scripted music/theatre.
- Concert 2 is our 'signature event' (our Good Friday Concert). This recital usually consists of a cantata or oratorio plus one or two additional choral works of a spiritual / reflective nature. The Good Friday Concert is performed with orchestral accompaniment.
- Concert 3 (our Spring Benefit) is where the Choir raises funds usually for local charity or service / programme provider. It is our way of saying thank you to our benefactors and the local community for their support. This final show in our Concert Calendar is a more casual affair, and often allows individual and small groups within among our members the opportunity to perform favourite songs. We also use this final concert to present both choirs ( The ICS Singers and our Youth Choir) to collaborate and perform as one.
